Amazing Kevin Brownlow is great for bringing us this incredible interview and these images of Gance's NAPOLEON!

Thanks for this post. Gance revisited Napoleon at least twice, in 1934 and again in 1971, when he added spoken dialogue from the surviving cast from the original script. That version is the best I have seen, but Coppola does not deserve the insults he's getting here. His version does not prevent the showing of previous versions, and his version once again brought the spotlight back to an unjustly forgotten giant.

Kevin Brownlow is a hero to film. If he doesn't win some kind of special Oscar, it will be a travesty.

I hope illicit copies of the full version circulate someday on DVD, with Carl Davis' score. Coppola is indeed doing a huge disservice to cinema fans.

Thanks to Coppola for preventing us from ever seeing the complete version of this film.
